Omaha Hi-Lo (also known as Omaha 8 or better) is commonly viewed as one of the most complex but well-loved poker variations. It’s a game that, even more than regular Omaha poker, aims for play from all levels of players. This is the chief reason why a once irrelevant variation, has increased in popularity so quickly.

Omaha/8 starts just like a normal game of Omaha. Four cards are dealt to each player. A sequence of betting follows where players can bet, check, or fold. Three cards are handed out, this is referred to as the flop. Another round of wagering happens. Once all the players have either called or dropped out, a further card is revealed on the turn. an additional round of wagering happens and then the river card is revealed. The gamblers will need to make the best high and low five card hands based on the board and hole cards.

This is the point where a few players can get flustered. Contrasted to Hold’em, where the board can make up everyone’s hand, in Omaha hi/low the player must use precisely 3 cards on the board, and precisely two hole cards. No more, no less. Contrary to normal Omaha, there are two ways a pot can be won: the "high hand" or the "low hand."

A high hand is exactly what it sounds like. It’s the best possible hand out of every player’s, it doesn’t matter if it is a straight, flush, full house. It is the identical notion in just about all poker games.

The lower hand is more complicated, but certainly opens up the action. When deciding on a low hand, straights and flushes don’t count. the lowest hand is the weakest hand that might be put together, with the lowest being made up of A-2-3-4-5. Because straights and flushes do not count, A-2-3-4-5 is the lowest possible hand. The lower hand is any five card hand (unpaired) with an eight and below. The low hand takes half of the pot, as just like the high hand. When there is no low hand presented, the higher hand takes the whole pot.

It may seem difficult at first, after a few hands you will be able to get the base nuances of play simply enough. Seeing as you have individuals wagering for the low and betting for the high, and seeing as so many cards are in play, Omaha/8 provides an amazing range of betting options and owing to the fact that you have many players battling for the high hand, along with many shooting for the low. If you like a game with a lot of outs and actions, it is worth your time to play Omaha/8.
