Omaha Hi-Lo (also known as Omaha/8 or better) is frequently seen as one of the most difficult but well-loved poker variations. Omaha hi/lo starts just like a regular game of Omaha. 4 cards are handed out to every player. A sequence of betting follows in which players can bet, check, or fold. 3 cards are dealt out, this is referred to as the flop. A further sequence of betting ensues. Once all the players have in turn called or folded, an additional card is revealed on the turn. an additional round of betting happens at which point the river card is revealed. The players will need to make the strongest high and low five card hands using the board and hole cards.
This is where some players often get flustered. Contrasted to Hold’em, in which the board can make up everyone’s hand, in Omaha hi/low the player must use exactly three cards on the board, and precisely 2 cards from their hand. No more, no less. Contrary to normal Omaha, there are two ways a pot can be won: the "high hand" or the "lower hand."

A low hand is more complex, but really opens up the action. When determining a low hand, straights and flushes do not count. The low hand is any five card hand (unpaired) with an 8 and lower. The low hand takes half of the pot, as just like the higher hand.
